Andre Explains the Difference Between a Person and a Patient in Eaglesoft

The Eaglesoft Field Guide is the best source for Eaglesoft Training on the internet

What’s the difference between a Patient and a Person in Eaglesoft?

You might have never notice that in the virtual Practice Management (“front desk”) screen the icon that is typically the first on the toolbar says “Person” and in the virtual Clinical (“operatory”) screen the icon that is typically the first on the toolbar says “Patient”.

On the OnSchedule toolbar there is only the Edit Patient icon and no link to Person.

So, what’s the Difference?  A Patient in Eaglesoft is a Person who gets Treatment, has Appointments and has Service Codes posted to the account.

A Person is a Policy Holder or a Responsible Party who does not get Treatment, Appointments or has Service Codes posted to the account.

This is typically why when a Policy Holder or Responsible Party calls to finally get an appointment they can’t be found.  The schedule only shows Patient and not Persons.
