Andre Explains Why There are 2 Claims for 1 Visit in Eaglesoft
Question: Anyone know why we get two separate claims for a single recall appointment?
Answer: Easy. Each Dentist should be marked as Self for Provider on Insurance (POI) in the Provider set-up and each Hygienist should have a Dentist as their POI. The best situation is to select the Dentist the Hygienist works with “most often”.
In a “Check Up” visit (Evaluation, Imaging and Prophy) the Evaluation will submit on one claim (for the Dentist) and a separate claim will send for the Prophy and Images (for the Hygienist) if the Hygienist is set to “Self” in the POI field.
There are some who have suggested that to file one claim for the Associate Doctor (Eval + Hygiene services), I must create a second Provider for each Hygienist. At the walkout, select the correct Hygienist for the Associate Doctor. OR the Hygienist logs in and out depending on which Doctor is doing the eval.
This is not the case. There is a setting in File>Preferences>Accounting that allows sets the system to “ask” for the Provider on the Claim (see picture).
At the end of the Walkout when you select Save, you will open the Claims Submission window. In this window, you can select the POI that matches the Provider that matches the dentist who performed the Evaluation during the Check-up (see picture)
